Socceroos coach Ange Postecoglou landed in Brazil today as part of an Australian delegation to attend the 2014 FIFA World Cup Final Draw, which will be held in Salvador on Friday afternoon (Saturday morning AEDT).

The glittering draw signals the start of the World Cup countdown for the 32 nations as all participants, big and small, eagerly await the World Cup hand they are dealt on Friday afternoon.

Ahead of the World Cup draw on Friday, FIFA will announce the make up of its pot system on Wednesday (Thursday morning AEDT), which gives an early indication of the possible road ahead.

“It-s exciting to be in Brazil for the World Cup draw,” Postecoglou said. “This is the biggest sporting event in the world and Australia will play its part on the world stage for the 4th time in our football history.

“We-re all anxious to see what group we are drawn in but for us we-re looking forward to whatever challenge the draw throws up and we will tackle it with the spirit that Australians have always been renowned for.”

While the 2014 FIFA World Cup Final Draw signifies an exciting sector in the road to the World Cup it also signals a step up in the Socceroo-s preparations for next June.

“While we are looking forward to seeing who we draw in the group stage, it also allows us to really start preparations to make sure we are ready for whatever comes our way when the World Cup starts in June next year,” Postecoglou said.

“Scouting opposition, travelling to watch the Socceroos players in action for their clubs, logistics, hotels, flights and warm up games are part of the meticulous planning we will be putting in place to make sure we do our best to start the tournament on the front foot.”

The 2014 FIFA World Cup Final Draw will be broadcast LIVE on SBS TV on Saturday morning with the telecast starting at 2.45 (AEDT).
