Football Federation Australia today announced that the Socceroos would base themselves in the town of Öhringen in Southern Germany during the 2006 FIFA World Cup.

Football Federation Australia today announced that the Socceroos would base themselves in the town of Öhringen in Southern Germany during the 2006 FIFA World Cup.   The team will stay at the Wald and Schloss hotel Freidrichsruhe during the entire first round of the tournament and potentially beyond.   Training sessions will be conducted at the Otto-Meister Stadium in Öhringen.   "The hotel and area was selected because it provides the team will the best possible location and facilities to prepare for the World Cup matches," said FFA CEO Mr John O'Neill.   "We have an ideal training facility which will provide the team with the opportunity to focus on achieving best results possible."   "The location allows the team to conveniently travel to all of our first round match venues by coach meaning the team will not be inconvenienced by flights during the first round of the competition."   "It's a very private area and we have had some excellent feedback from the town who are looking forwarding to welcoming the team."   The Hotel is located approximately 75km from Stuttgart and it is ideally placed for the Socceroos first-round matches against Japan (Kaiserslautern), Brazil (Munich) and Croatia (Stuttgart).   "We are very happy about the fact that the efforts of Wald and Schloss hotel Freidrichsruhe and Adolf Würth GmbH & Co.
