Australia meets Qatar at the Brisbane Stadium, Milton*, on Wednesday 15 October with kick-off set for 7.30pm AEST.
* Note: Suncorp Stadium will be referred to as Brisbane Stadium, Milton for this 2010 FIFA World Cup Asian Qualifier match in accordance with regulations of the Asian Football Confederation.
“This is only the second match for the Socceroos in the 2010 FIFA World Cup Asian Qualifiers - Round 4, and the first one at home in this round,” said Football Federation Australia (FFA) CEO, Ben Buckley.
Australia-s other opponents in the 2010 FIFA World Cup Asian Qualifiers - Round 4, are Bahrain, Japan and Uzbekistan.
"Playing in the FIFA World Cup is an ambition shared by the entire nation and we-re looking forward to a full house and vocal support from Queenslanders to help the players on the journey to South Africa."
Queensland Sports Minister, Judy Spence, said the atmosphere at Brisbane Stadium, Milton will be “fantastic”.
“I have no doubt the Socceroos will receive a rousing reception from Queenslanders when they take to the field.
“The Queensland Government has contributed millions to sport and to the development of world class football venues that attract high profile football matches such as this 2010 FIFA World Cup qualifier,” she added.
Both Spence and Buckley acknowledged the work of Stadiums Queensland in bringing the match to fruition.
Speaking after an international friendly match against South Africa in London this morning, Australia-s coach, Pim Verbeek, welcomed the opportunity to play in Brisbane again.
“We will have to work hard to achieve qualification, but playing in the FIFA World Cup is something every player wants to do and they know what they need to do to get there.”
Australia-s schedule for round 4 of the 2010 FIFA World Cup Asian Qualifiers will see them kick-off with an away game against Uzbekistan in three weeks. The full schedule involves:

Australia needs to finish in the top two of its group to qualify for the 2010 FIFA World Cup at the end of this round.
Australia met Qatar in February in Melbourne and in June in Doha and defeated them both times, as part of round 3 qualifying matches.
Tickets for the 15 October match will go on sale for members of ‘My Football Family- on Tuesday 26 August and for the general public on Friday 29 August. Tickets are available from Ticketek or agencies.
