Qantas Socceroo Rhys Williams is not set to leave Middlesbrough for Premier League side Bolton, according to Boro manager Tony Mowbray, while Ryan Williams has signed with Premier League side Fulham.
Qantas Socceroo Rhys Williams is not set to leave Middlesbrough for Premier League side Bolton, according to Boro manager Tony Mowbray.
Reports had surfaced today that Boro has accepted a $9 million bid for the 23-year-old but the BBC reports that Mowbray is unaware of any deal being struck yet.
Williams has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs in recent weeks, including Liverpool, but Williams has stated that he's happy to stay in England's north-east.
In other news, Rhys's brother Ryan has made the step up from the Championship to Premier League, signing a two-and-a-half year deal for an undisclosed fee to join Australia goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer at Fulham.
Sky Sports reports that the Cottagers fought off interest from West Brom and Aston Villa for the talented winger, and that the 18-year-old has already been training with Martin Jol's side.
"It's been a long few days actually, finding out whether or not I was going to be signing. But I've signed a two-and-a-half-year deal here so I'm really happy to be part of the club, it's a good club," Williams said.
"It's such a big move coming to a Premiership club. It's just really for my footballing education and playing more games, playing for the reserves and stuff like that. It's just a big step forward for me."
