The Qantas Young Socceroos (U-20) have scored a comprehensive 4-2 win over New Zealand in the final of the three-match series played at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra overnight.

The Qantas Young Socceroos (U-20) have scored a comprehensive 4-2 win over New Zealand in the final of the three-match series played at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra overnight.

The New Zealanders held a 1-0 advantage at the interval however the Qantas Young Socceroos dominated proceedings to lead 4-1 until a late goal for the visitors completed the scoring. Troy Hearfield scored twice with Chris Grossman and Bruce Djite also grabbing a goal apiece.

New Zealand won both the earlier matches played in the series (1-0, 3-1).

Australia are preparing for the AFC U-20 Championship which will take place in India during October and November. The top four teams at the 16-nation tournament will qualify for the 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Canada.
