Last Sunday saw seven of the Qantas Socceroos; captain Lucas Neill, Mark Schwarzer, Luke Wilkshire, Sasa Ognenovski, Matt McKay, Michael Zullo and Robbie Kruse, participate in a special football clinic with the Under 10-s from Klong Toey FC.

Klong Toey FC is a local football club from the Klong Toey region of Bangkok, one of the poorest areas of the city.

Klong Toey FC was formed by Australian Ashley Barker of Urban Neighbours of Hope (UNOH) which was established over ten years ago.

A foundation whose objective is to leverage urban neighbourhoods from poverty and help them to discover their strengths and talents and find opportunity to change their lives for the better. Currently, there are nine UNOH neighbourhood-based teams living and serving Christ amongst the urban poor in Melbourne, Sydney, Auckland, Mae Sot and Bangkok.

Klong Toey Football Club is one of UNOH-s initiatives for Klong Toey youth to bring out their abilities and keep them away from being victims of harsh environment.

The football clinic was hosted by the Australian Embassy in Thailand and by coincidence, the event was MC-ed by the Embassy-s First Secretary Vince Matassa who is a former Perth Glory and Young Socceroos goalkeeper now working in Thailand for the past two years.

The Qantas Socceroos also threw their support behind the Red Cross Thai Flood Relief appeal.
