Qantas Futsalroos Depart For AFC Qualifiers

The Qantas Futsalroos will depart for Malaysia on Sunday to participate in the AFC Futsal Championship Qualifiers. Four teams from these qualifiers will join 12 other teams already qualified at the AFC Futsal Championship in Uzbekistan in May.

The Qantas Futsalroos will depart for Malaysia on Sunday to participate in the AFC Futsal Championship Qualifiers. Four teams from these qualifiers will join 12 other teams already qualified at the AFC Futsal Championship in Uzbekistan in May.

Coach Scott Gilligan has chosen a 14-man squad for the qualifying tournament, with matches against Korea Republic, Hong Kong and Macau. DPR Korea was a late withdrawal from Australia-s qualifying group.

The top two teams from this group and two from another group will qualify for the Uzbekistan finals.

The Qantas Futsalroos squad is:

Goalkeepers Gavin O-Brien (Campbelltown City, NSW), Peter Spathis (Sydney Magic PCYC, NSW)

Defenders Scott Manson (Supercats, ACT), Christopher Zeballos (Macarthur Rams), Lachlan Wright (no club), Adrian Vizzari (Inner West Allstars,NSW), Keenan Duimpies (Dalponte Vikings, QLD)

Midfielders Goran Josifovski (Supercats, ACT), Elia Salloum (Supercats, ACT), Andrew Paine (Campbelltown City, NSW), Andrew Nolan (Dural Warriors, NSW), Trent Flanigan (Supercats, ACT)

Forwards Miles Downie (Campbelltown City, NSW), Luke Haydon (pictured above - Dalponte Vikings, QLD)

Included in the squad is 15-year old Keenan Duimpies, who plays with the Dalponte Vikings in Queensland.

Australia-s first match is against Hong Kong on Wednesday April 19, followed by Korea Republic on Friday April 21 and then Macau on Saturday April 22.
