Popovic Helps Palace Back Into Premiership

Australia could have yet another player in the English Premier League next season after Qantas Socceroo defender Tony Popovic helped Crystal Palace back into the big league after its 1-0 win over West Ham United in the Division One Play-off Final last night.

Australia could have yet another player in the English Premier League next season after Qantas Socceroo defender Tony Popovic (pictured right) helped Crystal Palace back into the big league after its 1-0 win over West Ham United in the Division One Play-off Final last night.   Palace-s winner came from captain Neil Shipperley in the 62nd minute, after he bundled home the ball after Hammers keeper Stephen Bywater could parry Andy Johnson-s shot.   With Palace already indicating they will not break the bank next season, the chances of Popovic signing a new contract with Palace would seem assured. He is also an international defender and has been a rock at the back for them this season.   Palace is back in the Premiership for the first time in six seasons and the win over West Ham is worth an estimated 30 million pounds.
