The Pararoos have been defeated by Brazil in their second match of the International Tournament in Football 7-a-side which is being held in Yevpatoriya City, Ukraine.

From the kickoff the Pararoos put some good combinations together to surprise the Brazilian team with an early chance falling to Ryan Kinner, the shot was on target but well saved by the Brazilian goalkeeper.

This woke up the Brazil team and they immediately went on the offensive only to be blocked in the 2nd minute by Ben Atkins. The resultant corner for Brazil saw a well struck volley drift just wide of the goals.

The Brazilians weren't to be deterred and opened the scoring in the 6th minute after a shot parried by Pararoos goalkeeper Jared Eiby saw the rebound fall at the feet of another Brazilian player who tucked the ball away.

Two minutes later the Brazilians extended their lead from a moment of when a shot was blasted from 20 metres out to finish in back of the net.

From there on the Brazilians scored a further five goals before half-time as Pararos errors cost the team dearly.

The second half saw Brazil continue with their master class, keeping goalkeeper Eiby busy throughout the match. Although the Pararoos fought gallantly, the Brazilians added another five goals in the second period in a similar fashion to the first.

The Pararoos had their best chance to score in the 58th minute when Robert Christie constructed a brilliant piece of play by beating three Brazilian players and skinning the last defender to create a one on one chance, but was denied by the Brazil keeper.

After the match head coach Kai Lammert was philosophical about the result.

“We could not cope with the speed, agility, and the skill of a classy Brazilian team,” said Lammert.

“It is obvious that the Brazilian players live and breathe football from birth.

“The one thing that can be said for this new Pararoos team is that they do have a never give up attitude, no matter what the score line is

“The average age of this team is only 20 years old”

“This is a great learning experience for the team - they now know the level that they must achieve to be competitive with the best teams in the world,” concluded Lammert.
