By the numbers: Sam Kerr's incredible 2017

With a remarkable 36 goals in 43 games for both club and country, Sam Kerr has been in simply phenomenal form in 2017. 

Kerr's stunning year was recognised on Tuesday night with the 24-year-old claiming the ABC Sports Personality of the Year award at the AIS Sport Performance Awards in Sydney.

It comes just a fortnight after the Glory star was named the AFC Women's Player of the Year at  an awards ceremony in Thailand.  

With the plaudits continuing to flow for the West Australian, we crunch the Opta stats to examine just how well Kerr has performed in 2017.

Kerr has played 43 games this calendar year.

She has played 11 times for the Westfield Matildas, 22 games for Sky Blue FC in the NWSL and ten matches for Perth Glory in the Westfield W-League.

In all, she has played 3678 minutes of football this year.

Kerr has found the net an astonishing 36 times in 2017.

That tally includes three hat-tricks, two for Sky Blue FC and one for the Westfield Matildas against Japan at the Tournament of Nations.

She has also netted five braces, including three for the national side.

Kerr has fired off 187 shots at goal this year, 110 of which have been on target (59%).

On top of her own goalscoring, Kerr also provided ten assists for her team-mates and created 81 chances in total.
