The Australian Soccer Association (ASA) today confirmed that it was not yet in a position to make a decision on the situation of the players that did not travel to Venezuela for the international friendly game on 18 February 2003. ASA confirmed that it was still in the process of gathering information relating to the specific circumstances of each player. A decision will not be taken until the full facts relating to the reasons for non-attendance are known. ASA policy is that it expects any player selected by the national team coach for international duty to make himself available and be released by his club. ASA has confirmed this policy to ensure that the Socceroos have the best possible preparation, as a team, to ultimately qualify for the FIFA World Cup in Germany in 2006. ASA will utilise FIFA Regulations if required to enforce this policy.
