It was reported that Middlesborough were keen to get McDonald-s near $50 000 a week wage off their books and agreed to pay out his the final year of the 29-year-old-s contract.

Having recently taking over from Kenny Jackett, new manager Steve Lomas moved quickly to sign the Socceroo after being impressed by his 13-goal season for Middlesborough last season.

Millwall made the semi-finals of the FA Cup last season and despite a 13 game unbeaten streak in the early part of the league season the side from south London flirted with relegation finishing just two points above the drop zone.
