Australian striker Scott McDonald is looking forward to fighting his way back into the Socceroos side after signing with Championship side Millwall.

McDonald was forced out of fellow English second-tier club Middlesborough and believed that the move to a club that was very keen to secure his services would give him the best opportunity to it Brazil in 2014.

“I have looked at the team (Millwall) and the way that they play here and the delivery that they have and on paper it seems to suit me,” said McDonald.

“I-m looking forward to getting out there with the boys and hopefully banging the ball in the net.

“With that hopefully opportunities come to represent my national team again.”

While his main priority is to impress Holger Osieck after just missing out on Pim Verbeek-s 2010 World Cup squad, McDonald is also excited in playing in front of a passionate crowd.

"The Den(Millwall-s home ground) is a smaller stadium, I know that," he said.

"But they can certainly generate an atmosphere. I-m looking forward to being a part of it.

McDonald has played 26 times for the Socceroos but has yet to get on the score sheet.

Prior to playing in England the 29-year-old striker made a name for himself for Scottish giants Celtic where he scored over 50 goals for the club.
