Matildas slip two places in FIFA rankings

Australia has slipped two spots in the FIFA World Rankings to 8th after finishing runners-up at the 2018 AFC Women's Asian Cup in April.

It’s been over a year since Australia fell as low as 8th in the rankings, while Japan’s triumph at the Asian Cup seen them rise five places and replace the Matildas in 6th.

Brazil’s win in the Copa America Femenina seen them move up one place in the rankings, to 7th.

The Matildas will have the chance to rise back up the rankings at the upcoming Tournament of Nations at the end of July.

Elsewhere in the rankings, Germany rose one spot to second in the rankings and France rose two spots to third in the rankings.

The largest fall in the rankings was Jordan, who went down 47 ranks to 57th.
