Matildas Abroad Review: Gorry scores first goal for Vittsjö; Wave FC maintain top of the table in USA

One Australian claimed the UEFA Women's Champions League title; while FC Rosengård extended their unbeaten streak to 10 consecutive games.

Ellie Carpenter claimed her second UWCL title with Olympique Lyonnais, beating reigning champions FC Barcelona 3-1 in Turin early on Sunday morning. Watch all the highlights from the win HERE.

Starting off in the USA, Chloe Logarzo's Kansas City Current was in action against NWSL newcomers Angel City FC, Kansas faced their third loss of the season, with an unfortunate own goal from Taylor Leach gifting the hosts all three points. 

Meanwhile, Emily van Egmond's San Diego Wave FC bounced back from their first loss of the season last week, when they defeated North Carolina Courage 1-0. 

Van Egmond played out the entire game for Wave FC, with a goal to Alex Morgan sealing San Diego's fourth win of the season that sees them sit first on the table. 

Finishing off in New Jersey, Alex Chidiac made her second start for Racing Louisville after making her debut last week. The midfielder was in the thick of the action, playing her part in Louisville's winner. 

Racing collected their second win of the season, and make it back-to-back wins.

Moving over to Sweden, Teagan Micah and Charli Grant's FC Rosengård were looking to extend their unbeaten streak to 10 when they faced Eskilstuna. 

Micah was back in the starting line-up for Rosengård after being a late omission last weekend, while Grant came off the bench in the 3-0 win. 

Rosengård now has all eyes on the Swedish Women's Cup on Friday morning, where they will be aiming for a record-equalling sixth title against BK Häcken.

Next up, Clare Polkinghorne and Katrina Gorry's Vittsjö GIK faced KIF Örebro DFF. Both Aussies made the start and it was the latter who scored the matchwinner, finishing from just outside the box in the 87th-minute to seal a 1-0 win for Vittsjö GIK.


Gorry's first goal for her new side helped Vittsjö to their fifth win of the season. 

Remy Siemsen's AIK faced a tough task, searching for their second win of the season against Kristianstads DFF and looking to climb off the bottom of the table. 

Siemsen started and played the whole game but wasn't able to help AIK to a much-needed win with her side going down 5-1.

Over in Denmark, coming off the back of their Danish Women's Cup Final win, Clare Wheeler and Angie Beard both started for Fortuna Hjørring, with their side going down 4-0 to FC Nordsjælland in the Round 8 of the Danish Elitedivisionen Championship round-robins.

Our last stop takes us to Norway, as Karly Roestbakken's LSK Kvinner hosted Lyn Football. Roestbakken didn't feature in the matchday squad, however, LSK were held to a 0-0 draw with Lyn.
