Matildas Abroad Preview: Aussies face off in the NWSL

Aussies face off in the NWSL as San Diego Wave looks to keep their spot at the top of the table against Racing Louisville.

San Diego Wave FC will be looking to hold on to first place when they host Racing Louisville, while Kansas City is aiming to extend their unbeaten streak to seven games against OL Reign.

Kicking off in San Diego, Emily van Egmond's Wave FC host Alex Chidiac's Racing Louisville. Wave FC and Louisville both come into the game looking to bounce back from respective losses in their last times out. Van Egmond's Wave remains unbeaten at home in their five outings there, however, Racing defeated San Diego, 1-0, in the middle of May at Lynn Family Stadium.


Wave FC sits just one point clear at the top of the table, with Chicago Red Stars their closest opponents on 20 points. Louisville has conceded at least two goals in each of its last five matches, with the hosts looking to get in on the action early.

This game will kick off on Saturday at 12:00 am AEST

Moving over to Kansas, Chloe Logarzo's Kansas City Current will host OL Reign on Monday morning, with Kansas aiming to extend their unbeaten run to seven games. 

Kansas comes into the game off a stunning 1-0 win over reigning NWSL champions Washington Spirit last round. Logarzo is back to training with Kansas but was not named in the matchday squad for last weekend's win over Spirit. 

When the two sides met earlier in the season Reign pulled off a late 1-0 win through an 80th-minute match winner from Bethany Balcer. Since that game, Current has not faced defeat, picking up four wins and 2 draws.
