Socceroos Head Coach Holger Osieck today announced that Luke Wilkshire has been ruled out of the upcoming international friendly match against Brazil due to a knee injury.

Wilkshire travelled to Brasilia and was assessed by the Socceroos medical staff on arrival. Following his assessment and consultation, Osieck decided that Wilkshire would not be suitably fit to train or play in the match and therefore released him back into the care of his club, Dinamo Moscow, to recover.

In addition, Tim Cahill did not travel to Brasilia to join the squad due to an ankle injury he sustained playing for his MLS club the New York Red Bulls on the weekend.

No players have been called in to replace Wilkshire and Cahill.

The Socceroos will play 2014 FIFA World Cup hosts and five-time FIFA World Cup winners Brazil at Brasilia-s Estadio Nacional Mané Garrincha on Saturday 7 September.

Kick off is at 4.15pm local time (Sunday 8 September, 5.15am AEST).

The match will be broadcast live and exclusive on Fox Sports 3HD and Fox Sports 3 from 5am AEST.
