Logarzo's love for football family

Chloe Logarzo is drawing inspiration from Australia's armed forces as she prepares for the 2018 AFC Women’s Asian Cup Final against Japan on Saturday morning [AEST].

The Westfield Matildas midfielder has revealed the book on her bedside table is providing motivation ahead of the biggest game of the year.

“I'm reading a book at the moment called 'No Front Line' – it’s about the Australian army and the SAS,” Logarzo told matildas.com.au.

“It's all about courage and pride and how the boys pull through and how they're such a family.

“They really don't like going out to war but they do it for the people standing next to them.

“I know football is nothing like war but that's exactly how I feel.

“Whenever we pull on the jersey to play for Australia we obviously love the game, but we do it for the people standing next to us because we know exactly what we've been through to get here.

“No matter what role you play in the team, whether you're starting every game or you haven't played a minute, we have such a great team culture.

“When it comes to game-day, you'll do anything for your team-mates,” she said.

Logarzo has been an integral part of the Australian side in recent times and has started all four games at this tournament.

But ahead of her first final Asian Cup Final, she knows she and her team-mates will only get their hands on the elusive silverware by being at their best against a quality opponent.

“Japan are an amazing team and they're a tournament team,” Logarzo said.

“We can't underestimate anything they do.

“We need to close them down and minimise their ability on the ball.

“If we can win it high up on the field that'll be a good success rate for us.

“But no matter who you're playing, it's important to try to get an early goal.

“It gives you confidence to play a little bit better.

“Against Japan, we have to take any chances that we get because we don't know how many we're going to get in the game.

“It's vital for us to be positive from the get-go.”
