FOX SPORTS will start its broadcast deal with the Socceroos by featuring injured star Harry Kewell in its commentary team for the clash with Denmark in London on February 7.

The Liverpool midfielder will join commentator Simon Hill for its first broadcast of a Socceroo match under the new seven-year partnership.

The Australia v Denmark match will be screened on FOX SPORTS 3 from 6.30am on Wednesday February 7.

Australia-s World Cup star will join Hill before the match and offer his expert comments during and after the clash provided his rehabilitation continues to progress smoothly.

It is the first time Australia-s World Cup star has ventured into the commentary booth and illustrates the insight FOX SPORTS wants to offer Australian football fans through its coverage over the next seven years.

“Obviously I would prefer to be playing but I-m looking forward to watching the lads play and offering my thoughts to the fans in Australia,” Kewell said.

Kewell-s thoughts and comments will add considerable credibility and colour to the match, which will be played at Loftus Road in London.

Tony Sinclair, Director, Fox Sports Channels, described Kewell-s role as an indication of Fox Sports- plan to unite the sport and take the fans closer to the true heroes, the players.

“We are thrilled that Harry Kewell has agreed to our offer to join the commentary team for the Socceroos clash with Denmark,” Sinclair said. “We approached Harry to be a part of the team to give the viewers the chance to hear the thoughts of one of our World Cup heroes.

“There is no doubt Harry is one of our greatest Socceroos and his presence in the commentary box on February 7 is a great way to start our seven year partnership with the FFA and the Socceroos.

“I had been made aware that there had been problems between Fox Sports and Harry in the past but Fox Sports has worked hard to resolves these issues.”

FOX SPORTS 1, 2 and 3 are available on FOXTEL, AUSTAR and OPTUS.
