Kewell and Coyne ruled out

Qantas Socceroos Head Coach, Pim Verbeek, announced today that Harry Kewell and Chris Coyne will not be available for the Australian squad for the upcoming 2010 FIFA World Cup™ Asian Qualifier Round 4 matches against Japan in Melbourne.

Following the Qantas Socceroos 2-0 victory over Bahrain in Sydney last week, these players would not be physically able to play again on Wednesday night.

"Both Harry and Chris played two tough games in a very short period of time," said Verbeek.

“Besides Mark Schwarzer and Jason Culina, Harry and Chris were the only other two players to play virtually all of the Qatar and Bahrain matches.

"Both players are disappointed that they are unable to play in the big match on Wednesday night, but physically it is best that we don't take any risks with them" concluded Verbeek.

The Qantas Socceroos had their first training session in Melbourne this afternoon at Bob Jane Stadium.
