Qantas Socceroo Harry Kewell scored a cracking goal to seal a Liverpool derby win over Everton, with Kewell-s Aussie team mate Tim Cahill getting the only goal for The Toffees in the 3-1 loss at Anfield.

Kewell (pictured right celebrating with Xavi Alonso) sealed a win for Liverpool when he struck a 25-yard thunderbolt in the 84th minute, to snuff out any hopes of an Everton comeback. It was only Kewell-s 3rd goal of the season, but a timely one.

In what was a fiery game, which saw two red cards (one for each side) and a total of ten yellows, it was Cahill that gave Toffees fans some hope when he powered home a header in the 61st minute. Cahill also had several chances early in the game before picking up the first yellow card of the game.

Red-s captain Stephen Gerrard found himself sent off in the 18th minute, after two cautions in quick succession, but it was Liverpool that skipped to a two-goal lead despite the man disadvantage.

Cahill-s header looked to spark up Everton, but they then found themselves down to 10 men with Dutchmen Andy Van der Meyde sent from the field with 18 minutes remaining.

With the game still in the balance, Kewell-s rocket was a magnificent way to seal victory and further illustrate his value to the Liverpool team since his comeback from a career-threatening groin injury.

Elsewhere in the Premiership overnight, Brett Emerton and Lucas Neill started in Blackburn Rovers 1-0 away win at relegated Sunderland, while John Filan was replaced at half time due to an eye injury and watched on as Wigan Athletic surrendered a 1-0 half time lead to lose 2-1 at home against West Ham.

Meanwhile in Italy, Parma continued on its winning ways with a surprise 1-0 win over Inter Milan. Marco Bresciano and Vince Grella both played full games for Parma that was their fourth win in succession and moved them a step closer to what would be a remarkable UEFA Cup place. Only four weeks ago they were a the very real threat of relegation, but Bresciano in particular, with four goals in five games, has lifted them well clear of relegation and closer to berth in Europe next season.

World Cup hopeful Josh Kennedy, did his chances no harm overnight with a goal in Dynamo Dresden-s 2-1 home loss to Burghausen, which still leaves Dynamo close to the relegation zone.
