Kerr shortlisted for the FIFPro Women’s World XI

Westfield Matildas captain Sam Kerr has been nominated for the FIFA FIFPro's Women World XI.

Kerr is among 55 players shortlisted for the prestigious team, which is made up of the 11 players who receive the most votes from their peers in each position.

FIFPro is the worldwide representative organisation for all professional footballers, with more than 65,000 players in total as members, both male and female.

The Westfield Matildas star has enjoyed another prolific year for both club and country.

Kerr, who turns 26 next Tuesday, won the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) and Westfield W-League Golden Boots over the last 12 months, each for the second consecutive season.

She also netted five goals in four FIFA Women's World Cup matches to guide Ante Milicic's side to the Round of 16 at this year’s tournament in France.

Kerr is nominated alongside the likes of USA stars Alex Morgan and Megan Rapinoe, French striker Eugenie Le Sommer and Netherlands duo Lieke Martens and Vivianne Miedema for the three attacking spots in the team.

FIFA and FIFPro will jointly reveal the Women's World XI at the Best Football Awards in Milan's Scala theatre on Tuesday, September 24 (AEST).

It will be the first time that both the Women's and Men's World XI are presented on the same stage.

This is the fourth Women's World XI vote organised by FIFPro since 2015 and more than 3,500 elite female players worldwide picked their favorite team.

The Women’s World XI will consist of a goalkeeper, four defenders, three midfielders and three forwards - based on last season's performance.
