Sam Kerr’s stunning performance for Chicago Red Stars over the weekend has seen the Westfield Matildas striker voted the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) Player of the Week.
The award is selected by a collection of media representatives that cover the NWSL, with Kerr earning the gong for her performance in Chicago’s 3-1 win over Orlando Pride.

Kerr bagged a brace in the vital victory, while she also assisted her side’s other goal with a perfect pass for teammate Vanessa DiBernardo.
The 24-year-old’s double also took her to the top of the Golden Boot standings with 14 for the season, two clear of her nearest rivals.
Kerr’s first goal came just before half-time when she raced onto Yuki Nagasato’s flick, beat a defender and fired a low shot past Pride goalkeeper Ashlyn Harris.
She completed her brace just before the hour mark, stealing the ball off Alanna Kennedy and burying her shot into the bottom corner.
It’s the seventh time Kerr has been named the NWSL Player of the Week and the second time this season.
Kerr’s heroics helped Chicago jump up to fourth spot on the NWSL ladder, needing just one more win from their last two games to secure a spot in the playoffs.
While Kerr was clearly the best player of the round, she missed out on winning the best goal, which was awarded to Portland Thorns’ Tobin Heath.
Westfield Matildas keeper Lydia Williams also missed out on the save of the week, which went to the Pride’s Harris.
