New Westfield Junior Matildas Head Coach Rae Dower will get the opportunity to work with her squad for the first time when 23 players assemble for a four day training camp.
The camp, being held at Football NSW headquarters at Valentine Sports Park, is the first of four training camps in preparation for the AFC U-16 Women's Championship 2017 coming up in September.
Dower is excited about the challenge ahead and the responsibility of nurturing Australia’s best young female football talent.
"I'm delighted to invite players from the recently held National Youth Championships and NTC Challenge into our first camp in preparation for the AFC U16 Women's Championships,” said Dower.
“With a short preparation it's important that we hit the ground running and these players have earned their opportunity with great recent performances.
“I look forward to working with them over the coming week and hope they grasp the opportunity with both hands and that they make it hard to leave them out of the final team."
The AFC U-16 Women's Championship 2017 will be the seventh edition of the tournament featuring eight of Asia’s football nations.
The Westfield Junior Matildas were drawn in a tough group alongside DPR Korea, Japan and Bangladesh. For more details on the draw, click here.
The tournament will be held in Thailand between 10–23 September 2017, with the top three teams qualifying for the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup 2018 in Uruguay
