Ibini raring to go for Westfield Young Matildas' Thailand clash

Sydney FC youngster Princess Ibini says she is hoping to build on her superb club form when the Westfield Young Matildas tackle Thailand on Friday.

Gary van Egmond's squad are currently in camp as part of an ASEAN-Australia Football Exchange, culminating in a friendly between Australia and Thailand at Leichhardt Oval on Friday.

The week-long camp also serves as an opportunity to begin preparations ahead of the 2019 AFC U-19 Women's Championship.

And for Ibini, who is already capped at senior level for the Westfield Matildas, the match against Thailand is a reward for an outstanding individual campaign in the Westfield W-League.

The 18-year-old made 12 starts and appeared in all 13 matches for Ante Juric's side, contributing two goals.

"Yeah I have a lot of confidence from that season with Sydney FC," Ibini told matildas.footballaustralia.com.au.

"I started basically every game. Hopefully I can take that momentum into the Young Matildas camp and the [Thailand] game."

With the match against Thailand open to the public and entry free of charge, Ibini is hopeful of a strong turnout at Leichhardt Oval.

"It's really exciting. Especially to play in Sydney in front of a home crowd. It will be a good experience for the girls," the exciting forward said.

Another youngster eager to impress is Wanderers midfielder Susan Phonsongkham, with the Thailand-born 17-year-old keen to showcase her talent against her native country.

"It's good because obviously it's my home country and that's where I come from," Phonsongkham said.

"It'd be great if we get the result so I can show them how good I am.

"I'm definitely playing for Australia here, representing this country," she added.
