'I was stopped by five or six young girls asking for photos and for advice': Logarzo

After eight months on the road with the national team, Chloe Logarzo can’t wait to return to home soil in November.

The Westfield Matildas haven’t played in Australia since their 5-0 friendly win over Thailand in late March.

Since then, Alen Stajcic’s side finished runners up in April’s AFC Asian Cup and were narrowly pipped in the Tournament of Nations by the United States in July.

Although they haven’t quite etched their name on any silverware, the Westfield Matildas will be given a hero’s welcome – and a vital chance to reconnect with fans on the home front.

“It’s important for us to feel the support of the nation,” Logarzo told the Westfield Matildas official website.

“In the last three years we’ve really been pushing for equality in the last three years it’s nice to know that the nation’s behind us and supporting us. It’s nice to know that we’re being loved!”

BE THERE: How to get your tickets to see Westfield Matildas play Chile in Penrith and Newcastle

The Westfield Matildas are set to welcome Chile in the Seven Consulting International Series at Panthers Stadium, Penrith (Saturday 10 November) and McDonald Jones Stadium, Newcastle (Tuesday 13 November).

In September 2017, the Westfield Matildas played two record breaking matches against Brazil as the same venues.

Following the roaring success of their last two visits to Penrith and Newcastle, November’s fixtures against Chile offers a superb chance for the Westfield Matildas to replicate what was an exhilarating week for Australian football on and off the field.

“We always think that we’re doing well for the women’s game and being successful and playing the football we’re playing and hopefully getting further in big tournaments is doing well," Logarzo said.

“The amount of girls that have come up to me and actually have an interest in what I’m doing and how I’m playing… I actually went to the NPL Grand Final last night and I was stopped by five or six young girls asking for photos and for advice!

"It’s never really happened before and it’s nice to know that people are really interested in what we’re doing and we’re really feeling the support."
