Sydney FC v Adelaide United
Thursday, 7:30pm AEDT

What a difference a week makes.

This time last week, Sydney FC were a loss away from panic stations. Now, they’re one win away from a top-four spot as we head toward the halfway mark of the 2018/19 Season.

The Sky Blues’s 5-1 victory over Brisbane Roar in Round 6 proved they are one of the best teams in the Westfield W-League when they have their players clicking.

Adelaide United should not be underestimated, though. Despite having their fort breached in consecutive weeks, they are still unbeaten alongside Melbourne Victory and Perth Glory.

Having conceded three goals in five games, the Reds have the best defence in the league and will give their forwards every chance of winning if they can thwart Sydney’s firepower.

Perth Glory v Newcastle Jets
Saturday, 10pm AEDT

Is it any surprise that at the end of Round 6 Sam Kerr is the Westfield W-League's leading goal scorer?

Kerr’s six goals in four games makes her the player to beat, and she may just claim her second consecutive Golden Boot if this type of form continues.

Newcastle makes the long trip to Perth off the back of consecutive defeats, of which both were at home too.

Craig Deans’s side were played off the park in a 3-1 loss to Melbourne City in Round 6, and were unlucky not to salvage a point in their 1-0 loss to Brisbane.

If results go against them, a third loss on the trot for Newcastle could create some delight between them and the rest of the pack - something they would almost certainly want to avoid.

Brisbane Roar v Melbourne Victory
Sunday, 4pm AEDT

The first thing any team seeks to do following a heavy loss is to rectify the result and get things back on track.

Easier said than done though, as Brisbane Roar host a Melbourne Victory side brimming with confidence for myriad reasons.

Jeff Hopkins’s side is first in the Westfield W-League, yet to lose a game and have had a week off which will have no doubt rejuvenated the squad.

Brisbane Roar

Following their opening 0-0 draw with Adelaide United, Victory have won four on the trot, scoring nine goals and conceding four.

It isn’t all doom and gloom for the home side, as Yuki Nagasato got her first Westfield W-League goal and is striking up a handy partnership with Allira Toby.

Further back, Mackenzie Arnold has been a rock in goal for Mel Andreatta’s side. The Westfield Matilda custodian is averaging the highest amount of saves per game with 4.5.
