Football Federation Australia (FFA) CEO David Gallop has congratulated the Westfield Matildas after they qualified for the 2015 FIFA Women-s World Cup overnight.

The Westfield Matildas secured their berth at the 2015 FIFA Women-s World Cup following last night-s 2-0 victory over Vietnam in their final group match of the AFC Women-s Asian Cup 2015 held in Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam.

"On behalf of the football community, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the Westfield Matildas on their qualification for the 2015 FIFA Women-s World Cup.

“Having seen first-hand the tough, hot and humid conditions they are currently playing in at the AFC Women-s Asian Cup, this is a fantastic achievement not just for the team, their Interim Head Coach Alen Stajcic and the entire staff, but also for women-s football in Australia.

"We now look forward to supporting the Westfield Matildas for the remainder of the tournament as they hope to defend their AFC Women-s Asian Cup Champions title."

The Westfield Matildas will now face either the Korea Republic or China in the Semi Finals of the AFC Women-s Asian Cup 2015 on Thursday evening with the final to be played on Sunday 25 May.

Fans in Australia will be able to watch the Westfield Matildas Semi Final match of the AFC Women-s Asian Cup 2015 LIVE & exclusive on Fox Sports 2HD.

The 2015 FIFA Women-s World Cup will be held in Canada from 6 June to 5 July.
