Over the past 12 months football has continued to carve its mark in Australia-s talented sporting landscape as its teams, coaches and players shine on the pitch at a local and international level.

And now stars of the game have been nominated in three categories of the prestigious Sports Performer Awards.

Hyundai A-League team Adelaide United, Adelaide United coach Aurelio Vidmar together with Westfield Matilda and Central Coast Mariners Westfield W-League player Ellyse Perry have all been nominated as finalist by the expert panel.

Adelaide United, Aurelio Vidmar and Ellyse Perry are listed amongst some of Australia-s finest talent but it is now up to the public to determine who will take home the title in each category.

“This is great news for the game and we are delighted to see that football is represented in three categories of the Sports Performer Awards, and including both the Hyundai A-League and the Westfield W-League,” said Football Federation (FFA) CEO Ben Buckley.

FFA is encouraging football fans to show their support by voting for the stars of their game.

Voting opens today - visit www.performerawards.com.au and show your support.

The Sports Performer Awards is dubbed the biggest and most exciting publicly voted sports awards in Australia, with sports performances from 1 November 2007 to 31 October 2008, eligible.
