With kick off inching closer, here is a quick guide to the Westfield Matildas' first opponents in these April friendlies, Germany!

Form: Germany was able to play six games in 2020, starting with the Algarve Cup in March. They won that tournament following a 1-0 win over Sweden and a 4-0 win over Norway. They were set to meet Italy in the final but the Italians had to return home due to the pandemic and the Germans were awarded the cup by default.
Martina Voss-Tecklenburg's team ended the year with four straight wins to complete qualification to the Euros in 2022. In those final four matches, Germany scored 15 goals and conceded only once.

The team also played twice in February, defeating Belgium 2-0 and losing to the Netherlands 2-1. That was their first defeat since the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup quarter final.

The Westfield Matildas and Germany have played four times. The Germans have the slight advantage with two wins to Australia's one. The teams have also drawn once; their last meeting finished 2-2 at the Rio 2016 Olympics.
Sam Kerr and Caitlin Foord were on the score sheet on that day in Brazil and fans will be hoping for much of the same.

She previously coached in Germany at club level and was the head coach of the Swiss women's national team.
