FFA offers condolences to family and friends of Phillip Hughes

Football Federation Australia (FFA) CEO David Gallop has offered his condolences to the family and friends of Australian cricketer Phillip Hughes on behalf of the Australian football community.

Hughes tragically passed away today after he was struck in the head by a ball during a Sheffield Shield match on Tuesday.

“The passing of Phillip Hughes is an incredibly sad day for Australian sport and on behalf of everyone in Australian football I would like to pass on our condolences to Phillip’s family, friends and the cricket community.

“For an athlete to lose his life while playing professional sport as a result of an unfortunate accident is very difficult to comprehend and we are all feeling a little numb today.

“Our thoughts are with Phillip’s family and everyone affected by this tragic accident."
