‘Every day with the national team is a blessing’: Allen keen to make most of Westfield Matildas chance

With a matter of a few weeks before the Westfield Matildas’ FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019™ squad will be named, defender Teigen Allen is doing all she can to earn a spot in Ante Milicic’s squad.

After Friday’s thrilling 5-3 loss against the USA, the team has remained in camp to continue to train and build towards June’s tournament.

For Melbourne Victory defender Allen, who has 40 caps for the Westfield Matildas, every session is vital as she looks to ensure she’s on the plane to France.

“Personally, everything I need to work on I am working on,” she told www.matildas.com.au.

“When I get back to Sydney with the Future Matildas program…everything I need to work on will be covered.

“I’ll be as ready as I’ll ever be [to be in the World Cup squad].”

Allen admits this block of training in the US has been pivotal to ensure the team will be ready to take on the world’s best in a couple of months’ time.

“The things that we have to work on are easily fixable,” the 25-year-old said of what the team needs to improve on before the World Cup.
