Westfield Matildas star rewarded for dream end to 2017 in W-League

It’s hard to believe Canberra United star Ellie Carpenter is still just 17 years old.

Not only is she a star of the Westfield W-League right now but she’s already become an established member of the all-conquering Westfield Matildas squad.

And her exceptional form with United has seen Carpenter become the NAB Young Footballer of the Year nominee for December in the Westfield W-League.

The stats tell the story of her superb end to 2017.

Carpenter enjoyed a passing accuracy of 84% in December, the second best of any player to have played more than twice in the month.

Her five shots at goal were also the second most of any player in the competition.

Add to that her 12 passes into the final third, seven tackles, 41 duels contested, three interceptions and three clearances and it’s not hard to see why Carpenter is a serious contender for the NAB Young Footballer of the Year award.

You can watch her in action again on Sunday as Canberra United look to keep their Westfield W-League finals hopes alive against Adelaide United.

And if she can maintain her current form she's sure to come into reckoning for Alen Stajcic's squad for April's AFC Women's Asian Cup in Jordan.
