Matildas Abroad Wrap: Butt on target again in Norway

Tameka Butt has continued her sparkling start to a second campaign at Norwegian club Klepp IL, finding the back of the net for the second consecutive match.

After opening her season tally in a 2-1 win last Sunday (AEST), the Westfield W-League centurion showed again why she's one of the world's finest midfielders, finding the back of the net in the shadows of half-time to draw her side level.

Two goals either side of half-time for Kolbotn would see Butt's side fall on the wrong side of a 3-1 scoreline but hold on to third place in Norway's Toppserien.

In Norway's south, Westfield W-League Goalkeeper of the Year Mackenzie Arnold made a fifth straight start between the posts for Arna-Bjørnar.

Arnold was the only international on the park for the Norwegian outfit for the first 77 minutes as an Emilie Nautnes double had her side in control for the majority of the match.

Two late goals denied the 24-year-old her first clean sheet of the campaign with the clash finishing at 2-2, leaving Arna-Bjørnar in fifth.

Both Roar Women now look ahead to mid-week Norwegian Women's Cup matches against second-tier opposition.

Arnold's side head north-west to face Kaupanger while Butt's Klepp IL travel to the far south for a date with Amazon Grimstad FK.

Heading across the Atlantic Ocean and two sides featuring Roar Women went head-to-head in Portland.

Gorry

Hayley Raso remains on the sidelines recovering from a knee injury, but her Thorns got the job done with a 2-0 win against Katrina Gorry's Utah Royals.

Gorry played a fourth consecutive 90 minutes for the NWSL's newest franchise but was unable to steer her side over the line against the defending champions. Roar Championships winner Celeste Boureille was also an unused substitute for the Thorns.

The Thorns host table-toppers North Carolina Courage on Thursday (Australian time) while Gorry's Royals take on bottom-placed Sky Blue FC on Sunday.
