Qantas Socceroo Mark Bresciano provided the inspiration off the bench, as Palermo continued on its merry way in the UEFA Cup with a valuable 2-1 away win at Eintracht Frankfurt. All round it was a good night for the Aussies in the UEFA Cup, with most enjoying positive results.

The scorer of arguably Australia-s greatest ever goal just over a week ago against Bahrain, this time he turned provider, coming off the bench and providing the cross for Zaccardo, who headed home the winning goal in the 87th minute.

The win continued Palermo-s terrific start to the season, which sees them third in the Serie A and unbeaten in three starts in the UEFA Cup.

Bresciano-s former club Parma also scored a 2-1 away win against Odense BK, although his good mate and fellow Qantas Socceroo Vince Grella missed the clash.

Scott Chipperfield and Mile Sterjovski both started for FC Basel as they drew 1-1 at home against Feyenoord.

Blackburn Rovers was another side to record a late away win, with Lucas Neill leading the side against Poland-s Wisla Krakow, which is home to Jacob Burns and Michael Thwaite.

Neill and Brett Emerton both played full games, as Blackburn scored an injury time winner against the plucky Polish side. Burns remains on the injury list for Wisla, while Thwaite-s name on the team sheet (as an unused-sub), means that his Romanian nightmare is finally behind him.

Qantas Socceroo defender Craig Moore was also an unused-sub for Newcastle United, as they won 1-0 at home against tough Turkish side Fenerbahce.

Finally, Ryan Griffiths came on as a second half substitute, but was unable to inspire a win for Rapid Bucharest, who had to settle for a 0-0 home draw with French side PSG.
