Australia learn AFC U-16 Women’s Championship 2019 Qualifiers fate

The Junior Matildas have learned their group for the second round of qualifiers for the 2019 AFC U-16 Women’s Championship.

They were placed alongside hosts Laos as well as Vietnam and IR Iran in the Round 2 draw, which took place in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Australia booked their place in Round 2 with wins over Palestine (11-0), Indonesia (11-0), the Kyrgyz Republic (10-0) and Chinese Taipei (7-0).

Round 2 kicks off on February 27 as Australia face IR Iran and conclude on March 3, with a date with the hosts Laos last up.

The group winners and runners up will qualify for the 2019 AFC U-16 Women’s Championship, to be held in Thailand next September.
