Aussies Abroad | McGowan looks to China

It looks as if Qantas Socceroos defender Ryan McGowan's move to China and Shandong Luneng Taishan from financially crippled Scottish club Hearts is set to happen.

It's believed that financially-stricken Hearts has agreed a transfer fee of $650,000 for one of its top talents to the club which won the CSL title in 2008 and 2010.

“He-s not yet put pen to paper,” Hearts coach John McGlynn said of McGowan. “It-s disappointing to lose him but if good offers come in we need to accept them.

“He-s been a massive influence both on and off the pitch. He-s a really, really good character. He-s a great lad, so he-ll be a big miss.”

While McGowan is on the move there isn't much good news for Australia's EPL contingent.

Aston Villa-s frustrating season continued with a 2-2 draw at Swansea. Chris Herd was there for 90 minutes, while Brett Holman came on for the final 22 minutes.

Adam Federici-s Reading remain in the relegation zone after a 3-1 loss to Tottenham, while Mark Schwarzer remains sideleined with a neck injury.

But there-s more to smile about in the nPower Championship.

Mile Jedinak, captain of Crystal Palace, played 90 minutes as his side moved into third spot on the table in a 3-1 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Others to enjoy 90 minutes on the park include Rhys Williams in Middlesbrough-s 1-3 loss to Derby County - a mooted destination for Central Coast Mariners goalkeeper Mat Ryan - and Shane Lowry for Millwall in a 2-1 win over Bristol City.
