Aussies Abroad: Cahill linked with EPL return

Tim Cahill is reportedly set to return to the English Premier League on a loan deal, with up to six clubs chasing his services.

Qantas Socceroos star Tim Cahill looks as if he might be about to sign a loan deal which would see him move back to England for a short stint at the end of the current MLS season.

The 33-year-old had earlier confirmed he was keen on the move, and it had been believed Everton would be the favourites to snare his signature, but it has since been reported that Sunderland, Newcastle, Tottenham Hotspur and Queens Park Rangers are in the market for Cahill.

Cahill-s debut season in the MLS, was likely not his finest, he played 14 matches, scoring once, as the MLS club finished third in the Eastern Conference to reach the play-offs, where it was knocked out by DC United.

If he returns to the Premier League Cahill will be following the likes of Los Angeles Galaxy stars Landon Donovan and Robbie Keane, who have spent time on loan at Everton (twice) and Aston Villa respectively, and Red Bulls team-mate Thierry Henry who went back to Arsenal last year.
