Tim Cahill could face some time on the sidelines after limping off with ankle and calf injuries in Everton's 1-1 draw with Wigan Athletic in the Premier League over the weekend.

The Socceroos star was replaced at halftime by Marouane Fellaini after failing to run off an early knock.

"Tim Cahill got a foot injury in the first half early on and I was going to sub him but I hoped that I could get him through, but he had to come off at half time," said Everton manager David Moyes.

"He-s got a bit of a foot problem and a calf as well."

Meanwhile, Mark Schwarzer received an icy reception on his return to the Premier League as his club, Fulham, copped a 3-0 belting in the snow at Manchester City.

Schwarzer turned out for the first time in almost two months, following a back injury, in the sub-zero temperatures that have been causing havoc across Britain and Europe.

In the Championship, in-form striker Scott McDonald missed Middlesbrough's 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace at a freezing Riverside with an injury.

But Socceroos squad members Rhys Williams and Mile Jedinak both played. Middlesbrough are sixth while Palace remain 14th.

Midfielder Neil Kilkenny was substituted at half-time as Bristol City crashed to a 3-0 defeat to Leeds United at Ashton Gate.

Kilkenny was sacrificed after City were reduced to 10 men just before the break. The defeat leaves City struggling in 20th position.

In Germany, Mathew Leckie was an unused substitute in Borussia Moenchengladbach's 0-0 draw with Wolfsburg while Mitch Langerak warmed the bench for Borussia Dortmund in their 2-0 win over Nurnberg.
