Several members of Australia-s successful Oceania Nations Cup winning soccer team are thanking their lucky stars after their Air New Zealand plane was forced to turn around and head back to Fiji after an apparent bomb scare.

LG Socceroo coach Frank Farina along with his assistant Graham Arnold, players Steve Corica, Tony Popovic, Stan Lazaridis, Steve Horvat, and Shaun Murphy, Soccer Australia Board member Tony Labbozzetta, several officials and a number of Australia-s media contingent, were all on board and are now safely in Fiji.

Farina, who led the LG Socceroos to a 2-0 win in the final of the Oceania Nations Cup against New Zealand, said the experience was quite hairy after the pilot revealed there was the possibility of a bomb on board the plane.

They are now expected to leave Fiji at around 7pm headed for Auckland where they are expected to stay the night before returning to Australia tomorrow.

The remainder of the LG Socceroo squad is still in Tahiti and will be returning to Australia over the next few days.
