Argentina game will be 'huge': Bresciano

Qantas Socceroo attacking midfielder Mark Bresciano thinks the upcoming international against Argentina will be ‘huge- and can-t wait to get back to his home town, in more ways than one.

Since his last visit home, just prior to the Asian Cup finals, things haven-t quite gone to plan for the Palermo player, with the disappointment of the Asian Cup finals and then a proposed career-defining move to Manchester City, scuppered at the last minute by his Italian club.

It has been a frustrating time for Bresciano, who saw his move to the English Premier League club just before the start of the season, snatched away when Palermo were not happy with the payment structure of the transfer and told him to return to Palermo-s pre-season training.

With the disappointment obvious in his voice, Bresciano-s tone changed when he was asked about the match with Argentina that is being played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Tuesday September 11.

“It-s something that I am looking forward to in the next couple of weeks; I think it will be huge,” Bresciano said from his home in Italy, where he was preparing for Palermo-s first match of the season against Roma (they lost 2-0 and Bresciano came on as half time substitute).

“It-ll be a very big game, especially against the team we are playing (Argentina), who are a world class team.”

The 27-year-old says he always enjoys coming home to Melbourne, but its even more special when there is a big game to look forward to in front of what he hopes will be a sell-out crowd at the MCG.

"Just coming home, back to Melbourne on holidays is enough for me,” he said. “So coming back and playing in at the MCG in front of a full house is a bonus.

“I think this game will pull every soccer fan in Melbourne, or even in Australia actually, as everyone would love to come and watch Argentina and our own nation play against each other.”

Asked what he thought of a few Hyundai A-League players being part of the squad, considering the success of Mark Milligan and David Carney at the Asian Cup, Bresciano is looking forward to seeing more players from home getting a run with the national team.

"It would be good for some (Hyundai) A-League boys to get a taste of international football, because that-s the only way a footballer can grow.”

Bresciano missed the last clash between the two nations at the 2005 Confederations Cup, due to club relegation play-off matches with former club Parma. Argentina won that match 4-2.

With Argentina announcing a virtual full strength squad for the match, including the likes of Lionel Messi and Carlos Tevez, remaining tickets are expected to sell quickly. To make sure you don't miss out, get your tickets early by logging onto www.ticketmaster.com.au
