Terry Antonis has been ruled out of the Qantas Young Socceroos squad for the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup due to a torn quadriceps muscle .

Antonis picked up the injury in the first half of yesterday-s international friendly against the Junior All Whites in Wollongong.

Scans this morning confirmed the severity of the injury which will keep him sidelined for 5-6 weeks.

Under competition rules, Qantas Young Socceroos Head Coach Paul Okon has replace Antonis with Sydney FC midfielder Hagi Gligor.

Okon was very disappointed for Antonis.

“Unfortunately this injury has ruled Terry out of the squad which is very disappointing for him and the team as he is a very important player and this would have been his second FIFA U-20 World Cup,” said Okon

“We all wish Terry a quick recovery and hope to see him back in training soon.

“I-m confident that Hagi Gligor can step straight into the squad and help us with our campaign ,”concluded Okon

The Qantas Young Socceroos depart for Turkey today for a pre-tournament training camp in Antalya where they will play Chile-s U-20 Men-s National team in a friendly on Sunday 16 June before beginning their 2013 FIFA U20 World Cup campaign against Colombia in Trabzon on Saturday 22 June.
