Aloisi Goal Not Enough For Osasuna

Socceroos striker John Aloisi warmed up for next week-s Confederations Cup with a goal for Osasuna, but it was not enough to earn their team victory in the Kings Cup final in Spain.

Aloisi (pictured right) came off the bench to level the game up in normal time, however six minutes from the end of extra time, Real Betis substitute Dani scored the match-winning goal for the 2-1 victory.

The goal will give Qantas Socceroo coach Frank Farina plenty to think about, with Aloisi in the frame for a starting position for Australia-s opening game of the Confederations Cup tournament against host nation Germany.

He leveled the match in the 83rd minute with a superb header, after Real Betis had taken the lead just nine minutes earlier through Ricardo Oliveira.

Aloisi and the injured Mark Viduka are expected to be the front runners for the lone striker-s role in the 4-3-3 system employed by Farina, with doubt-s still lingering about Viduka-s suspect hamstring, which has seen him play just 10 minutes of football in 2005.
