Qantas Socceroo striker John Aloisi scored just his second goal of the Spanish La Liga season, as Alaves recorded an upset 2-0 win over Deportivo La Coruna.

Aloisi scored the opening goal in the 22nd minute with a diving header and set up the second goal for Bodipo early in the second half, as Alaves battled against a desperate Deportivo onslaught.

The win though still keeps Alaves rooted to the bottom of the ladder, although they are now just a win away from the relegation zone.

In Italy, Parma-s Australian pair of Marco Bresciano and Vince Grella both started, with Bresciano coming off midway through the second half, as they drew 1-1 at home with Lazio. Parma moved up one spot and out of the relegation zone. Zeljko Kalac was again on the bench, as AC Milan lost 1-0 away at AS Roma.

Jason Culina played a full game, as PSV Eindhoven won 1-0 away at Sparta Rotterdam to hold onto top spot of the Dutch Eredivisie; in England Josip Skoko and John Filan both remained on the bench for Wigan Athletic in their 1-0 loss to West Brom, while in Scotland, Scott McDonald played a full game in Motherwell-s loss to Rangers and Daniel McBreen grabbed a goal in Falkirk-s 2-1 loss to Dundee United.
