Qantas Next Young Socceroos Head Coach Jan Versleijen has selected a 20-player squad for the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) U19 Youth Championship which will be held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam from 4-16 August 2009.

“We had a very productive training camp in Sydney recently which was the first time this group of players, from a mixture of clubs and backgrounds, had got together,” said Versleijen.

“I had to make a number of changes to the final selection due to injuries to some players which has allowed other players to get a chance. It will be now up to those players to take the opportunity and show what they can do to confirm their position in future teams.

“We will be using this tournament to familiarise the players with the style and standard of play that is required for an Australian national team," concluded Versleijen.

The Qantas Next Young Socceroos Squad consists of players that were born on or after 1 January 1991.

Later in the year, the Qantas Next Young Socceroos will compete at the AFC U19 Youth Championships Qualifier Tournament in Jakarta, with the top three nations advancing to the AFC U19 Youth Championships which will be held in 2010.
